Just 13 of the almost 7 thousand Government owned cars and vans are electric.
That's despite a target of having 1 million electric cars on Irish roads by 2030.
Richard Bruton says there will come a "tipping point".
The revelation comes as new EU rules for electric vehicles come into force.
Regulators decided their engines were too quiet compared to traditional motors -- so from this week all new electric vehicles are required to have a noise-maker fitted.
