Fizzy water could be making you put on weight by triggering a hunger hormone.

Researchers found that rats put on a diet of sparkling water put on more weight than those drinking just still water.

The study says that carbonated water increases a hunger hormone which makes people eat more than they would otherwise.

However experts are advising that fizzy water is still healthier than reaching for a soft drink.
