Swimmers are asked to avoid going for an annual Christmas dip in popular Dublin bathing spots.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council are appealing to people not to go to congregate to go swimming.
They've asked people to avoid the 40 foot, Sandycove and Seapoint on Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day.
They've released a statement with the HSE and an Garda Síochána discouraging the annual event, saying it poses a public health risk.
Those locations are traditionally very busy around the 25th and 26th of December.
Council Cathaoirleach Una Power says the decision was made after Covid-19 case numbers have begun to rise.
"We've seen already that the numbers are starting to rise and we know that Covid is still very much among us."
"We just don't want people to be congregating in these very popular areas and putting it at risk of increased transmission."
