MLA Will Refer The Incident To Ombudsman
John O'Dowd says he intends to refer the Edgarstown incident to the Police Ombudsman:
"The primary objective of the police service is to protect lives and property."
So he's called on the police to explain why they didn't stop the fire from being lit in the first place.
"Why were so many people allowed to gather in the vicinity of a structure which was clearly in a dangerous state?"
"Videos from social media show how close we came to a major disaster."
Finally, he says the spectators are running away from the "collapsing inferno" in these videos.
