Two separate Garda investigations have been launched in Kildare and Laois after two people were found dead.
In Newbridge, Kildare, a man in his 30s was found dead at a home.
That was after Gardaí began an investigation into an alleged assault on a woman.
It's believed that attack happened in the same property where the body was found.

Laois
Separately in County Laois, a woman (who was in her 30s) was found dead in an apartment in Mountmellick.
That was after an alleged assault.
Crime Editor with The Irish Times, Conor Lally, says a man is still being questioned in relation to the woman's death.
"We understand he was well known to the woman," Conor says.
This man has been arrested, he can be held for up to 24 hours without a charge.
So Gardaí will either need to release him without charge after that - or charge him in connection with the incident.
