Romance is on the cards today, as Valentine’s Day spending increases by over 450%.
Transactions from Bank of Ireland debit cards show hotel spending is up over 1,000% on last year while chocolates and greeting cards have also seen increases.
Voxing on Valentine’s is a treat. So far I’ve met a husband who’s forgot, a young lad who just broke up with his gf and another who was on route to register his marriage. Love’s a trip 😅 pic.twitter.com/t8uNNvn151

Love or loathe it, Valentine's Day is here.
And judging by spending habits, most of us will be marking the day - with jewellery sales up two fold and chocolate rising by 41% on last year.
But not everyone’s brought their A game:
This man in Dublin told us, "so I've actually forgotten!"
But for others, its a chance to show some love:
"We're actually on our way to register our marriage in Town today, a nice day to do it!"
The price of roses has doubled thanks to Brexit and rising energy costs.
Catherine who sells flowers on Dublin’s Grafton Street says there’s a new favourite flower:
"We have roses like but the lads are going more for a mixed bouquet or a bunch of tulips."
...and here's a photo of some tulips for anyone who isn't sure what they look like!
BOI’s also figures show the biggest spenders this valentines day were in Leitrim, Tipperary and Offaly.
