Victoria's Secret to ditch 'Angels' and introduce 'The VS Collective,' a group of high-achieving celebrity activists.
Victoria's Secret says it's using a "broader range" of models in response to criticism over a lack of diversity.
The lingerie brand cancelled its famed fashion show in 2019, and has now unveiled a new roster of stars who will represent the brand under a fresh marketing model.
Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and US footballer Megan Rapinoe are part of a group of seven high-achieving women who will advise the brand.
We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective, designed to shape the future of Victoria’s Secret. @adutakech1 @amandadecadenet @mPinoe @priyankachopra Eileen Gu, Paloma Elsesser, Valentina Sampaio https://t.co/IdYrmLWkPM pic.twitter.com/bd9QMhCz2W — Victoria's Secret (@VictoriasSecret) June 16, 2021
The group also consists of South Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech, Chinese Skiing Champion Eileen Gu; Amanda de Cadenet, an American photographer; Paloma Elsesser, a British Model famous for promoting body positivity and Valentina Sampaio who broke waves for becoming Victoria Secret's first transgender model.
The lingerie firm says the use of more representative body shapes is "just the beginning".
