WhatsApp phishing scam doing the rounds
WhatsApp users are being urged to be on the lookout for a dangerous message doing the rounds on the app.
It's believed the message is only available in French and German at the moment, but it could make its way here.
It's described as a 'Christmas or New Years' message which will be followed by a link.
Malware will take over the user's device, leading to the homepage and search engines on a browser being changed.
"[It says] surprise, surprise, surprise with lots of emojis saying 'click here'," says Dorcas Reamonn from IT consultancy Zonua.
She added "At Christmas, a lot of people send you messages with dancing Santa Claus or dancing elves or gifs."
