Thunderstorms may lead to spot flooding in the west of the country later today.
Munster and Connacht will be affected by a status yellow rain and thunderstorm warning from 6pm until the same time tomorrow.
Met Eireann says rain in the west and southwest will move eastwards throughout the afternoon.
There will be thundery downpours in parts when the warning kicks in this evening.
"We have much cooler and unsettled weather than we had yesterday," says Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather.
"Heavy showers arriving in from the west, but they will really hit many areas through today and this evening," he added.
