Your MyTaxi cab will cost you extra from tomorrow.
Drivers will be allowed to charge a €2 booking fee, on top of the regular fare. The company says its making the change "to align with taxi industry standards".
The €2 booking fee is a fee charged by all taxi providers in Ireland but in the past, mytaxi drivers have discounted this fee for customers.
The company gave users less than 24 hours notice about the changes and people have expressed their frustration online.
An extra €2 booking fee means it's time to delete the @mytaxi_ie app. Crap service since taking over from #hailo pic.twitter.com/3RhF4GwSBM

Disgraceful move by @mytaxi_ie to slap €2 charge on every booking from Sunday. #bringbackHailo

No @mytaxi_ie this is NOT OK. Hailing a cab via your app is NOT THE SAME as booking. You should not be adding the €2 fee! pic.twitter.com/7WAE0mVMlF

According to rules from the National Transport Authority, a booking fee 'may be applied' when a taxi is booked through any means other than hailing it from the street or at a taxi rank.
The NTA recently announced a general hike in taxi fares, which'll come into effect from February 1st 2018.
