The Central Bank has launched a campaign, in an effort to stop scammers from stealing your money.
It says fraudsters are targeting more, and a larger range of, Irish consumers.
Social media sites, fake websites (including copies of real websites) are often used.
The Central Bank says, "if you are offered something that seems too good to be true, it is most likely a scam. "
It has published the SAFE test, which is outlined below:
Everyone's "At Risk"
The Central Bank's Deputy Governor, Derville Rowland, says every generation and every demographic is "at risk."
"Advances in technology have created great opportunities for consumers, but have also given fraudsters increased access to innocent victims."
Deputy Governor Rowland continued, "some of the scams we have seen reported to us in the Central Bank are extremely sophisticated and convincing."
She hopes the practical steps shown above "will go some way to combating these callous criminals."
