The cost to park a car on the street in Dublin City is to go up.
Businesses don't believe it will deter people from shopping in Dublin city centre.
From next year, it will increase by as much as 50 cent an hour in some zones.
Car Parking
If you want to park in some parts of the city, it may prove a bit more costly from next year.
The Yellow Zone - classified as 'very high in demand' increases from 3.50 to 4 euro an hour from next year.
Parking charges in the 'red zone' will also increase by 50 cent - from 3 euro to 3.50.
Richard Guiney from Dublin Town doesn't think the changes will have much of an impact on the shopping district.
He says only about a fifth of people who come into town to shop use the car, and "most" go to a multi storey car park.
But Independent Cllr Mannix Flynn doesn't agree.
"I think its another hostile act against those driving a car," he said.
The increases won't be quite as dramatic in areas the Council deems to be in lower demand.
They include the orange zone and blue zones, which will see a ten cent increase to the current price.
