Over €130,000 has been raised for Caio Benicio - the man who stopped the Parnell Square attack yesterday.

The organisers of the Go Fund Me (linked here) say he's a hero and deserves to know the people of Dublin appreciate him.

The Brazilian delivery driver got off his bike and used his helmet to tackle a man to the ground.

Three children and a woman were injured in yesterday's attack.

One little girl, who is five, is in a critical condition - as is a woman in her 30s.

A man is also receiving treatment in hospital - Gardaí say he is a person of interest in the case.

Gardaí have also repeatedly said they're following a "definite line of inquiry," and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.

Overwhelmed

Caio said he's been overwhelmed by the response.

“I just left my bike and took off my helmet to protect myself and to use it as a weapon and yeah, I hit him in the head,” he said.

“I hit him in the head and he fell down on the ground.”

Speaking to Spin, he said his only thoughts are with the injured little girl at the moment.

He says he's "praying" for her.

“I’m just praying for her so she can make it alive.”
