Tina Satchwell's husband has been remanded in custody after being charged with her murder.
Fifty-seven year-old Richard Satchwell of Number 3, Grattan Street, Youghal, Co. Cork appeared before a special sitting of Cashel District Court in County Tipperary this morning.
Detective Garda David Kelleher of Cobh Garda Station told Judge Miriam Walsh that he charged Richard Satchwell with the murder of Tina Satchwell at 8:07 last night.
Defence solicitor Eddie Burke requested that his client be held at Cork Prison rather than Limerick Prison, however Judge Walsh said that decision was not up to her.
Mr Burke said Satchwell was not working and applied for legal aid, which was granted.
He also asked that Satchwell be medically assessed when he enters prison.
Bail cannot be granted at District Court level on a murder charge and Judge Walsh remanded him in custody to appear before Clonmel District Court on Tuesday October 17th.
Tina Satchwell was last seen in public on the 19th of March 2017.
It was confirmed yesterday via dental records that skeletal remains found at a house in Youghal are those of the missing 45-year-old.
Members of Tina’s family were present in court for the brief hearing.
