Emergency services were called to the scene of a blaze in the Ballyjamesduff area at around 2am this morning.
A woman in her 80s and a man in his 50s were found and pronounced dead at the scene of a house fire in Cavan this morning.
The pair were a mother and son.
Units of Cavan County Fire Service extinguished the blaze in the early hours of the morning.
The bodies of the man and woman have been taken to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital, where a post-mortem exam is due to take place.
The scene of the fire has been preserved and members of the Garda Technical Bureau will examine the house, while the coroner has been notified and enquiries are ongoing.
