Dee Forbes, the Director General of RTE, was suspended from her employment on Wednesday.
A statement from the broadcaster says "there are processes on-going and RTÉ must be mindful of its legal responsibilities and the rights of individuals".
It adds it will not be commenting further on this issue at this time.

It comes after it emerged yesterday that Ryan Tubridy received undeclared payments.
The broadcaster admitted to payments of €345,000 between 2017 and 2022.
The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Brian Stanley TD says RTÉ has ''a lot of questions to answer''.
