The Health Minister says Ireland will consider putting smoking warnings on individual cigarettes.
The recommendation has been made to Scottish legislators who are reviewing their laws.
The warnings would be on top of the existing labels on cigarette packets.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says it's something they would consider here:
"We know the Canadians are doing and so we're gonna stay engaged with our Canadian counterparts to see what kind of impact that has."
"I think, as the Tánaiste has said, I wouldn't rule anything out."
Ireland has been seen as a leader in terms of tackling smoking and reducing rates of smoking and anything we do is in the broad context of the big public health push."
