A woman was found stabbed to death at a house in North Dublin this morning.
It happened in the early hours.
Gardaí and the emergency services were called to the house just after 1 o'clock this morning.
The body of the woman remains at the scene this lunchtime as the Garda Technical Bureau carry out their examination.
It's understood she suffered a 'violent' death.
Two children were also in the house at the time of the incident but were not harmed.
Gardaí have been conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area as part of the investigation.
A man, in his 50s, was arrested at the house on suspicion of murder and is known to the victim.
He can be questioned for up to 24 hours without charge.
