The series is set amidst a gang war in a small Irish town and tells the story of Damien Dunne (played by Dane Whyte O’Hara) a 16-year-old boy still in school, who dreams of becoming a professional MMA fighter.
Damien's home life is troubled. His parents struggle to make ends meet, while his reckless older brother Wesley has turned to a life of crime to help provide for the family.
When a major drug deal goes wrong, Wesley goes missing. Damien begins to feel the pressure to step up as a provider for his family. Always the fighter, Damian is facing the fight of his life - for his family, his friends, but most of all, for himself.
Plan B
Dane told Sarina on Saturday’s Plan B that he had never acted before Darklands and when he was auditioning for the show, he thought he was auditioning for an extra part, he had no idea he was up for the lead role and that he would actually get it!

The first person he told getting the part was his Granny. Dane said there was no need to tell anyone else as as soon as she knew she spread the news!
His Granny didn’t get to his teachers though, they found out about Dale’s starring role when they saw him appear at Virgin Media press days. The whole school has been shocked but love his work.
Congratulations to @markoconnorfilm on his new show #darklands . Cant even imagine what would be involved in writing AND producing etc something like this, very impressive! Just catching up on it now but hooked already pic.twitter.com/ZwxuCIEVex

Dane is hoping that this is only the beginning of his career, he hopes to use his martial arts training to follow in the footsteps of Bruce Lee and Jason Statham.
Episode 3 of Darklands airs on Monday night at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
