It comes after a pilot scheme has been launched in Dublin.
Irish company Zipp Mobility plans to introduce e-bikes and e-scooters nationwide.
They've just announced a pilot launch of their bikes in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown area of Dublin.
Zipp already operates e-scooter sharing schemes in eight cities across the UK and Poland.
The company has headquarters on the campus of University College Dublin.

Founder Charlie Gleeson said they didn't want to 'overwhelm' the local council with their first scheme.
"The next three or four months we plan on sticking with just fifty," he said.
"We do plan on scaling up to one or two thousand vehicles across all of Dublin."
Areas such as Cork, Limerick and Kildare are being targeted next for the e-bikes.
Once new laws come into force, they'll start rolling out e-scooters as well.
25 staff work at Zipp Mobility and 50 new roles are expected to be created.
William O'Brien, a previous member of UCDTV, has been instrumental in their expansion.
